starter wires

On my 85, i took out all of the the fuel injection wires that came from the passenger fender and the computer. My problem is i have no power going to my starter soleniod, and im reading low volts on the gauge but the batt has 12 volts with my meter. So what could be causing the no voltage at the starter solenoid wire and the low voltage on the gauge.
