350TPI running rough

350TPI running rough
i had this problem for months. when i start the car i have to stay on the gas so it will not die. then when i start driving the car its ok when the engine is cold and the RPM is at 1000 or higher. But when the engine is at warm and at operating temp and the RPM is a 500 it want's to die. I always put it in neutral to stop it from stalling out. what do you think it is. can the timeing be off?

Is your check engine light on?Has it had a tune up latelly?Have you replaced your tps sensor just before you started having this trouble?

the car was tuned up a month back. The check engine light comes on at highway speeds only. But goes away when i turn the car off and will not come on. and i did not touch the TPS.

Hmm Sounds like a Egr Valve malfunction to me 
Extremely close to dieing or stalls out at idle? ( Egr on idle makes the engine stall)
