Cold Air Intake Options?
What are my options for putting a cold air intake on a 1991 350 TPI?
I know SLP makes a couple intakes, but they are only good for up to 1989 cars (according to their website). Will these work on my car?
By searching, I've also found that guys have had exhaust shops bend them some tubing. Then, they just throw a filter on the end. Does this option yield more or less horsepower?
Besides SLP and homebrew, what are my other options. Which option will yield the most airflow?
Finally, I know that my battery is on the driver's side. Some cars have the battery on the passenger's side. Will this influence the types of intakes I am limited to?

I bought a cold air intake for my 92 350 from slp some years back. Honestly can't tell you if it actually's worth the money or not. Overall it was pretty easy to install. Although I did have to move my fuel vapor canister to a new location.

on the website, they dont have any intakes for 91-92 cars. I guess they stopped making them =/

Actually as far as I know the only differance between the MAF cars and SD cars is the tubing from the throttle body to the air filter assembly. You could by the 89 and earlier parts kit but you would not use all the parts. Just the airbox portion.
Me I just made my own with 3 1/2 inch tubing. Very easy to do and I think a lot better system.

You would relocate the charcoal canister. That would be part of the SLP kit. You would also reuse your plastic intake that goes from the airfilter assembly to the throttle body.
You could use the 1989 parts but you would have to put in a small length of tubing where the maf was suppose to go. IMHO the 1990+ part is better.

It looks like this thing is for sale at Summit. And its for a 1991! I think I'm gonna pick it up. I just hope this intake is high speed.
Thanks for all your help 1989GTATransAm
