Did you swap these on in place of an existing ccc-qjet system? If so and you haven't swapped the computer controlled distributor you've found the problem. Lack of ignition advance would cause the problems you've described.

Connect a timing light and verify that you're around 20+ degrees at idle and you're getting around 30-36 degrees full advance. Only way to be sure you've not only got the right dist, but it's hooked up correctly and working right.

would also like to check the floats on that new carb could be sucking the bowl dry
was looking at your car on cardomain...if your having poping out the intake make sure you arent running that edelbrock bugscreen of a air filter

Connect your timing light and while observing the marks, rev the engine and verify that the timing is advancing. You set the timing initially with the vaccuum line to the distributor disconnected, right?
With the vaccuum line disconnected you should see only centrifugal advance, reconnect the line and you should see total advance (up to around 30 or so degrees).
