loss of compression?timing?

i took my car for a little drive today,, and the only thing ive done to it was set timing counterclockwise a little,,, it had no problems when i drove it the last three times since i set it back,, but today, it severly struggles past 3000, just sounds like the gas pedal wont open anymore,,,,, but i hadr floored. im guessing this is timing related? no obvious backfires,,, sputters, anything,,, just wont rev,,, even when out of gear,,, if i hold it to the floor itll only go to 4500

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Well, if you think it might be the "timing" since you've changed it, put it back.

Since you already have, I think you can rule that out.

Doesn't sound like "timing" or "compression" to me. Sounds more like fuel delivery.

Check your fuel pressure, WHILE IT'S IN THE ACT OF SCREWING UP.

It could also be a stopped-up exhaust system.

Before getting into inventing convoluted "explanations", see my signature for helpful troubleshooting advice.

thers no noise of engine knock is there? other than poor quality gasoline, i would also check fuel pressure.

would or could a knock be related to fuel? it is a seriosu problem not being able to go past 3000 in gear and 4500 in neutral!!! if you hold in pinned in gear it does slowly keep climing tho,,, but very slowly,,, kinda coughs

Maybe the cat is clogged?

Food for thought

bottle mufflers where the cats are,,,,,,

and i thank you all for the help, but i found out what it was

belive it or not the rubber intake adapter (before throttle body) was sandwitching itself closed,,, and it was such a weird feeling to drive it,,, youd swear it was a rev limiter,, plently of power up to 3000,, then no *****

so im making a new intake peice from metal, should be worth some ponies anyways... i also think the air filter is shitty, causing it to suck down like that
