Odometer Accuracy!
I saw a 1985 Camaro for sale with allegedly 50K original miles, it had a 145 MPH speedo in it. I know in 1985, all the speedo's were up to 85 MPH. When you change the speedometer, do you have to change the odometer as well? making the odometer read 0 mileage?? I've never tampered with one so I wouldn't know. I was wondering if this vehicle would have more mileage than it actually read.

if it was a v8 then it quite possibly could have had a 145 speedo, my 84 had a 140 or 145 speedo stock, it's been a few years since I had it in the camaro since i'm running a 160 autometer guage now

Here's a link that debates the 145 question:

The odometer is a part of the speedo head. If the speedo has been swapped, so has the odometer (with whatever mileage was on the original car). It is possible, however, to change the mileage.
