Oil Guage locked between 375-400

Well if it's not the 3 oil leaks, or the mysterious power drainage.. it's a problematic Oil gauge problem. Sigh!

Yesterday when I started the car I noticed the Oil Gauge was between 375-400 (Usually it's 200, and 400 is the MAX on the gauge!).

While I'm driving it never went below 300. Took to mechanic and they said it was the Oil Pressure sending unit. They replaced it, and it never fixed it. They Then took it in again, checked the sending unit, replaced again and still. They are puzzled as to WHY the reading would be HIGHER rather than lower. They suspect the oil tubes are plugged and will be flushing the engine with transmission oil (free) (apparently transmission oil is a trick they said) and will replace the oil filter..

They said if THAT does not fix it, then they suspect a COMPRESSION PROBLEM which would involve opening up the engine which they can't do and would require me to go to an engine shop. Is this correct???

compression doesn't have a lot to do with oil pressure and there are no oil tubes.

Hmmm.. What could cause the reading to be between 375 - 400 ?

A properly working oil pump, for one.

Did the shop verify the pressure with a test gauge?
