Drive belts
Hi,
I have a 1984 Trans Am 5L V8 with air condition.
How wide are the correct drive belts for this engine?
I have now about 10-11mm wide belts but I think they
are a little wider than they should be.
I bought now a new alternator. The gap in the pulley of this
alternator is 9mm wide. I can not put 11mm wide belts onto
this pulley because I think the edge of the pulley will ruin the
side of the belt. I hope I can put the old pulley onto the new
alternator. But it is a plastic pulley, I think it is also worn and
maybe the belt then goes too deep into it.
Does anybody know how wide are the original belt on this car?
Does anybody have an original service manual where this is
exactly described. And maybe also the angle of the wedge of the belt.
Thank you,
Laszlo
