hey, ive got an 84 Trans am and i just got a remanufactured carb because i cracked the old one and now it idles normally, for the most part, and then if you gas it the throttle (sometimes) sticks at about 3k but i cant get it to do it with the air cleaner off, and i cant see anything thats binding so hopefully someone has an idea what this could be.

The linkage has to be hitting the filter is it a drop base filter, put a little grease on the top of the linkage install the breather open the throttle then take off the filter and see if the linkage left some grease on it if it is there is your prob.

 

Great idea with the grease method bro.

Also, get a second person to help you out here. Have them pump the throttle from inside the car while you watch the linkage to see if you can see the point at where it gets hung up. Check for any moving parts that are contacting (throttle cable, linkage, return spring, etc. You'll figure it out.
