Oil pressure low ?
within the last few days or warm weather my car's oil pressure droped a little bit and than some more as the days went on. This was across about a week i would say now my car runs with very little or no oil pressure and it seems to run fine, no noise, or leaks and the oil is still full ...? my mechanic said could be engine berrings or something and someone else said sensor problem but i figured i would throw it up here and maybe someone had similar problems and they could help.

Re: Oil pressure low ?
The oil pressure sending units are notorious for going bad. I would replace that before you try anything else. That'll be cheaper than replacing engine bearings

Re: Oil pressure low ?
i have an oil question and instead of starting a new thread i figured i'd throw it in here. my car "puffs" blue smoke when i start it and for about 3 seconds then cleans out and seems to run fine. due to the fact it was sitting in a barn for a few years not running, maybe my valve seals "o rings" dried up and went kinda bad so when the engine sits not running, it allows time for the oil to leak down into the cylinder causing an F/A/O or fuel air oil mixture resulting with blue burn for a bit..no?

Re: Oil pressure low ?
yeah that sounds like the valve seals usually thats what causes it you can run it like that but the damage is already done so in time you should get it fixed.

yes yes hopefully this is the case and this will all be getting taken care of when i do my cam swap i just want to make sure this is probably whats causing it to assure myself everything internally is working properly.

Re: Oil pressure low ?
Check the oil level, and if its ok (and the oil looks normal) then check the oil pressure with a mechanical guage. You can get one for about $10 at any parts store. If that checks out ok, then just replace the sending unit.
