started ran for a sec shut off and doesn't want to turn anymore main bearing or more likely cam?

 

Can you turn it over by hand?

By any means possible, but preferrably not by turning the crank bolt.

 

no i mean only with a breaker bar it will turn not turnin like it should bought the long block from some one and it was just rebuilt

 

Hmm, take off all the belts, and then try to turn it over. Hopefully a accesory just locked it up. Just because its rebuild doesnt mean its good. people make mistakes....

 

So it turns with a breaker bar, but not with the starter?

 

only runnin a alt and water pump both brand new

 

it will turn but barely not like it should

 

possible an overtightend fastener? seems unlikely though. im curious as to what this may be also

 

took belt off got it to start ran fine for the min i had it on knock startin so take it out again somethin on pass side oil press is still 60 lbs

 

pull the plugs and try turning it again if it isnt pretty easy with the breaker bar then it needs to come apart... that fact that you know the knock is from the pass side means its probably a rocker not adjusted properly

 

its comin apart its actually already out this is the only motor i din't build goin in one of my cars and look what happens not a rocker went over them twice before initial fire up car ran fine for two days the knock is a thud sound just faintly startin what u think chances of swapppin out bearings and it be ok

 

you could probably get away with it as long as you fix what ever nuked it in the first place along with a very thorough cleaning

 

i dont know got a few cranks layin round mine as well check some numbers on them and just swap crank and bearings

 

anything you could do to ensure the life of the motor would be worth it at this point... i am sure pulling the engine every other week would get old fast

considering what i paid for it 5 months ago to find this out two days after its in the car gonna go beat on that guys door tomorrow whole diff. thread there but yea a lil pissed off today i know the motor was just rebuilt i put the heads on and diff oil pan so i got peek at it all

 

well she's all broke down i found a spun rod bearing on 8

and then there is the weird thing we'll see what you guys think
on #2&3 (i think dont remember) pistons have a little piece broke off very bottom of skirt
did this guy degree the cam wrong cause it looks like the lobes on the cam hit it

or what the hell would cause that

 

he might have put the rods on backwards causing the bind which in turn screwed up the piston skirt. Just a thought.

 

idk all the notches on pistons were facing right way
so that would mean it was the people who pressed them for him

 

or if this engine has been run before you got it , its probably seen some 7500+rpms i pulled a engine out of a truck with a blown tranny every piston skirt was cracked... truck only had first gear...
