FITTING COATED PISTONS ?

well im getting ready to install pistons. its my first time using coated pistons. block was bored 4.030, piston dia. says 4.02875 with .001 clearance. so 4.02975 (4.03) is good.

direction say you cant measure coated pistons. so when i put a piston in the bore top down it goes in fine but when it hits the skirt with the painted speed pro logo on it they get snug. with a little rotating it finally moves nice. is this normal ? will the logo just wear off ?

just want to make sure this is right. "its my first time".

then theres all that lost h.p. if the logo wears off.
thanks
mike

Go by the directions given by the piston manufacturor. I did with mine. No problems.

Re: FITTING COATED PISTONS ?

it is normal for them to be snug... as you only have .0005 space around the piston... be careful with them you dont want to do ANY damage to the skirts... NO scratches no anything
