The last 3 digits are typically cast into the area right above the block drains.

I'd guess it's 010
Unless it's a roller block, but I doubt that. My moneys on 010.

i think i might have the same engine block lol i just bought a 010 block. 4 bolt main. someone has cleaned it but there might be afew flakes of blue around somewhere. its a 1977 engine. i looked up the numbers and says it came out of a truck, corvette, or camaro.

Re: Anyone have tricks to get Block #'s??

Ya theyre good blocks.. i would like to get the numbers to find out exactly where it came from tho my last 350 block and heads were from a 78 camaro but the heads i have now have a different symbol on them the last ones had two humps that were the same size and these heads have a small hump then big hump so im guessing i might have the truck block and heads. also the exhaust manifolds are shaped diffrently then the ones on the late 70's camaro

Re: Anyone have tricks to get Block #'s??

Are you guys talking casting numbers?...The numbers (stamped code) on the front of the block will give you more insight as to exact year, application, HP rating etc. Check here for the decoders. http://www.chevy-camaro.com/

Re: Anyone have tricks to get Block #'s??

Did they make an 010 blue block?

The casting number only gives you the basics of what the block is. It's good to tell you if it's a 4" bore block or a smaller bore 305 block. It's better to get the stamped code from the right front pad on the block in front of the passenger side head. These numbers can be hard to read as they're usually full of paint, dirt etc and if the block has ever been decked, the numbers will be gone.
