serpentine conversion

Anyone out there used aftermarket brackets for their serpentine setup? I only want to run my alternator and powersteering, and of coarse the blower on one belt. My water pump is electric.
Is this possible to do?

Re: serpentine conversion

I would love to know the answer to this question as I am in the process of building a motor and am looking to use a Serpentine setup!

Re: serpentine conversion

The only real soulution I know of only has one problem, like crrllmich stated in the other post, it's expensive! I'm sure March Performance would be able to set you up with the right parts to do a nice, aftermarket serp. setup. But if you've ever looked at their stuff, it's pretty spendy, although nice looking.

I know somebody who did something similar to this years ago. Starting with a serpentine setup, he switched to pre-serpentine bracketry, but kept the serpentine pullies themselves. Then he simply had a belt matched to fit....

However, if your opting to only run the alternator w/powersteering, they're already on the same side, so all you would need to do is eliminate the whole entire passenger side of the serpentine setup, and have either Pepboys, or Autozone, match a belt up for you. The other side can be devoted to the blower (with a custrom bracket for it, and the tensioner, of course)....

Re: serpentine conversion

The problem I see with using a factory serpentine bracket is that there is no way to tension the belt. plus do run the belt over the alternator, power steering, and crank, I would be afraid that the belt would run into my water pump.
