Somebody help
I have a 1991 fire bird formula 5.0 and i can not get the thing to run normal to save my life it idels up and down cuts off check engine light is on and off i have done all the troble shooting i can new spark plugs fuel filters wires sensor hoses air filter nothig has worked it boggs at the start i have to back off the gas to get it going some body help

i can never catch the check engine light when it is on it only comes on once every three days for like a minute this car has a mind of its own i have never seen its full potentall its allways sumthin difrint wrong with it it only has 120.00 miles on it and have only put 5.000 on it my self oh it burns gas bad i get like 150 miles to a tank and it burns real rich i dont know what to do i dont want to take it to a shop i like to fix it on my own yano

have you cleaned the iac on the bottom of your throttle body? sounds like it may be stuck(if its dirty it will not close all the way causing ecm to add extra fuel,hense rich mixture) take it off and clean it and reinstall.

not at first i have to pump the gas slowly to keep it running then i have to floor it to about 4g rpm and let of it takes about five minutes to get it to idle

i am not a mec i took it for like three years in high school yano i dont understand alot of things i dont know where in the dual port where the iac is i guess the dual port is the same as a throttel body right

the iac( intake air control) is on the bottom of the throttle body,take the throttle body off, remove the iac(piece with wires connected to it )flip it over theres screws in the plate on the bottom, remove these carefully.after removal clean throttle body and the plate,then replace plate.you can check the iac after replacing it by turning the ign. switch ,dont crank engine listen for clicking sound this will be the iac.if you dont hear it turn switch off and try it once more,if no sound iac could be bad.at this point it may be a good idea to take it to a mechanic.what part of Va. are you from?later jimmy

I am from the eastern shore of Va its on the other side of the bay from Va beach are you talking about the top of the intake its like a brass pice where the gas sprays in to the head or are you talking about thr two bowls it sprays into by the way thanks for all the help
