ignition problems
hey guys,
i got a 1984 camaro with a 2.8L v6. lately its been having ignition problems.
it will crank and crank but wont fire. i thought it would either be an ignition coil or module problem. i also ran the onboard diagnostic and it only came up with code 12. So today i replaced the module but it didn't have any affect. i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what the cause might be.
thanks

First, why do you suspect it's an ignition problem? Have you checked for spark at the plug? Verify that first.
If you don't have spark, verify you've got 12 volts to the system.
If you do have 12 volts, check the resistance of the coil. It isn't uncommon for a faulty coil or module to take the other one out. If you've got a bad coil, you may have another bad module.
If you do have spark, you probably aren't getting fuel. That's another set of troubleshooting to go through.
It's much cheaper in the long run, and less time consuming, to diagnose rather than just guess and change out parts.
