kinda feel bad by making this my first post...

well i have a 91 camaro RS w/ 305 TBI automatic w/ 128k miles

just bought it,and when it sits for awhile....i go to crank it and it starts and soon as it does it bogs down and the lights go dim,like its goign to shut off/stall.....and it bounces between 0-600 rpms....it trys very hard to keep it self up but then finally dies......then if i try to put in drive and take off it bucks,like its not getting anuff gas.....but if i hold the gas down so it idles at bout 2000rpms for bout 1 1/2 or 2...it will drop back and idle at 650 like it should then it runs great......also its runs cooler then it seems like it should,so belive it has lower thermostat,as in its runing little over a quater of the guage it is a very nice car and the engine is sound...im thinking fuel pump

what yall think?

 

Have you tried the usual tune-up things first? Fuel filter, IAC, PCV, etc.?

no,havent done anything yet.....tryin to figure it out before start buying things it doesnt need

 

Those are maintenance items that need to be done, unless you have a good idea that they were recently done by the previous owner. They might not fix your problem, but at least you'll know what you're dealing with. Is it setting any codes?
