help finding a new cam

this year im getting rid of tpi and going with a carb i already bought a wiend stealth manifold and a 650dp carb but i figure i might as well change the cam out to i want to stay with hydraulic roller cam but i want to go bigger then what i have , comp 276hr, so basically any suggestions on a bigger cam would be helpfull, also im trying to do this as cheap as possible if that is possible

Re: help finding a new cam

My suggestion is to not use a bigger cam on a 305ci motor. You may want to if anything change the rockers to 1.7 and maybe a higher stall converter paired with a lower rear end ratio.

1.7:1 rockers on a Gen I SBC? 305, no less? I don't think so.

The 276 will be fine, assuming you have adequate valve travel.

Re: help finding a new cam

i dont have a converter being that its a stick and i already have 4.11s and im going through the traps about 200rpm before limiter so im not changing my gears either, and i have never heard of 1.7s for a gen 1 only lsx motors, i might keep the cam in there till maybe mid season and see how i like it with the carb cause with the efi it was to much not being tuned, and be springs should be good to .600 lift thats why i was thinking about going alittle bit bigger, also is there any benefit to using a rev kit cause i would like to put a bigger shot of nitrous on it but i float valves at about 6500 and i would like to turn more rpms and see what i can get out of this 305, would like to get mid to low 12s on motor high 10s on a 200 shot

Re: help finding a new cam

yeah, rereading everything nix the 1.7s its 2nd nature as the "list" progresses. your only other option may be better flowing heads at this point, you seem to have everything else under control.
