Ive got an 86 firebird 305 carburated, 5spd, anyway my car has ran great the last year, ive always changed the oil, did a tune up on it, had plenty of power for what it is, but the other day the car started to act funny, I usually pump the gas 3 times and the car starts up, now it starts up and dies after a couple seconds, i then pump the gas a couple more times and it runs, but its a little rough, the cars power isnt there anymore either it feels like im pulling a trailor especially in the higher rpms 3500+. when i downshift when im slowing down the exhaust makes some pulsing popping sounds, and if i drive around in 3rd the cars starts jumping like its starving for fuel.

if anyone has an idea or has had this problem help me out!!

 

Check the basics like fuel filterand check to see if your fuel pump is infact pumping.

 

where is the fuel filter? is it hard to get to? and if the fuel pump wasnt pumping would the car even run at all?
