Have you tried a drop base?

Summit sells drop bases. Probably Jegs and any other mail order place. You can probably look up the company/part no. and call around and see if any local parts stores carry them as well. They are not uncommon.

if you're using a Edelbrock performer RPM hi rise manifold this is the air cleaner base you want.
A holley carb requires the choke air horn removed and the bowl vent tubes shortened.
Use a 14x3" filter and a common 14" air cleaner top
may require modifying the throttle linkage bracket and choke linkage.
Edelbrock carb requires a 5 1/8"x 1/2" air cleaner spacer to clear the banjo fuel fitting. Fits some Qjet carbs.
HEI distributor requires minor reshaping of the back of the base flange to clear the big distributor cap.
This is the lowest hugging, best flowing drop base air cleaner made.
Used on old Corvettes.

Gives a full 1" extra hood clearance than the typical aftermarket drop base air cleaners do.

Re: where can i find an air cleaner to fit?

This worked great for me when I had a regular Holley 4150 model carb. I recently purchased a Holley 750 street HP carb and this base dosen't seem to fit that at all. Has anyone else ran into this problem?
