i need help. Very Confused
I'm not really sure if this is where this post goes but i need help and direction. I have an 88 TA with a tpi on an 69-79 350 block. Everything runs fine, starts up precisely, sounds great. But after about 30 minutes of driving when i press on the gas the rpms will decrease and the car will sort of "bog" out. when i let out the gas its fine. when i press it down again its fine for like a half a second then it does it again. If i really mash it try to see if it will clear up it will want to backfire. i can here it trying to come out the exhaust. The other day it did it and i tried to add some fuel system cleaner to see if it would clear up...no luck it did it again. I have a new Fuel Pressure Regulator, Hypertech AFPR, 22lb Accel injectors, ACCEL fuel pressure gauge. I NEED SOME TYPE OF DIRECTION. anyone have any pointers?

Have you checked for codes yet? Any idea what the fuel pressure is doing when this is happening? I'm a little confused you have a new fuel pressure regulator and an accel adjustable fuel pressure regulator? Am I reading it correctly that you have 2 regulators?

So have you checked for codes? If so what did you find? What type of fuel pressure are you experiencing when this happens?

the search button is your friend and will reveal the answers to questions such as this, I didn't feel like typing it out myself so here is a short write-up I've copied from another post:
"You can actually get the error codes yourself by using a paper clip. The diagnostic connector is above your right knee when you are in the drivers seat. The diag.conn. has two rows and 6 columns. If you number the top row 1 thru 6 (left to right), you want to connect (short out) the 5th and 6th positions together, then turn the key to the on position. Start counting the flashes, you will get one flash a long pause then two quick flashes, this is read as a 1-2 or 12, You get each two digit code there times. For example, if there are two error codes you will see, 12, 12, 12, 33, 33, 33, 22, 22, 22, 12, 12, 12... When you see the 12 come back, you are done. The sequence is always three 12s, then the error codes, then three 12s. When your finished remove the paper clip and turn the key off."
Grab a paper clip and let us know what you find.

i have changed the fuel filter. I tried the paper clip trick, last night i did it when the motor was cold and i got a code of 43 today with the motor hot it, the cold was 22? Um i just converted from a 305 to a 350. Does the chip make a difference? do i need another chip i still have the stock one in?

You did it while it was cold and hot? But the engine was off right? So you're running a chip from a 305 on a 350? I would suggest burning a new one. It will help tremendously.

Have you driven around with the fuel press gauge set-up so you can read it while trying to accelerate?
Is the fuel press reg connected to manifold vacuum?
As for the code 22, have you adjusted the minimum idle and then the TPS voltage?
As for the code 43, might wanna check the wiring/connector at the ESC module. 87 models had them on the firewall, they were later replaced with some circuitry piggyback'in the prom. Not sure what year they switched over.
You need a 350 prom in the computer for your eng. The knock sensor is specific to the eng size too, so can't use the 305 knock sensor on the 350.

i do have a 350 knock sensor. the only thing i didn't change was the chip. i was gonna order a gauge to install for the car today but heard im not supposed to hook the gauge up inside the car? not sure bout that but im really confused because i thought everything was fine i drove it about 100 miles one weekend on the highway and she ran fine, purred like a kitten. then on the way way she started doing the bogging out. i was have afpr problems (the vaccum hose nipple on the regulator broke off. it had to be a piece of junk i ordered another one thinking that would solve the bogging out problems and it did not so now im leaning toward the chip. anyone know where i can find one?

You can tape the fuel press gauge to the outside of the windshield so you can read it while going on a test drive..
Junk yard would be where I'd start looking for a 350 prom.
Might wanna consider burning your own chips if you plan on upgrading your intake/cam/heads/etc..

I see you're running an adjustable regulator, what do you have the pressure set at? Are you still running the 19lb 305 injectors? They tend to like a little more pressure on a 350..
