MY 85 IROC will not idle
My car does just fine while driving with the exception of the surging it gets while i'm coming to a stop and have let of the gas or it is idling. and occasionally while i'm giving it just a little gas.
I'd like for some explanations on this phenom.
as for what i know, it does not have a blown head gasket, doesn't smoke no mily oil etc.
i just replaced all the plugs and i'm just very confused.
I'm curious what could make this car idle so bad and surge like it does, I'm aware that the 85 IROC's were a mess in the electircal dept as well as the comp they used. but i love the car it is a 305 tpi if it helps. HELP ME

anybody? i'm told it could just be as simple as a timing issue does that sound correct?

To set the timing the ECM spark control has to be disabled, or you'll never get it timed right. Different models diabled it differently so check your specific model's manual.
Disable the spark control, start the engine , if it still surges it's not the timing.
Look for vacuum leaks, or carboned throttle body, especially the Idle air passage. if you do clean it up the IAC will need to be reset.
