Few problems with 91 RS Camaro: Speedo & Check Engine Light
Well I will first start off introducing myself as I am new to the board. I'm Justin and this is my second car. My first was a '55 Dodge C1 so I'm obviously not your typical 16 year old. I like my classics and everything else American muscle has to offer. None of that V6 import crap.
I just bought a 1991 RS Camaro. It has T-Tops, PW, PL, Power Hatch, Cruise, 350 and other goodies. The main reason I bought this car (besides it being a camaro with all my requirements) is if I had to rate the interior from 1-10 it would be a 9 and a half. The other half is missing because a seatbelt holder in the headrest is missing. It looks brand new and thats good for a 131k mile car. I paid 1500 for it and it does run just needs a few things.
First: Speedometer
This is a pretty important part of this car I think. It will keep me out of trouble so it is VERY necessary. I have not looked at it nor tore anything apart. What are some things I should look for or investigate in on? I just read somewhere that the speedometer is electronic via VSS sensor. I will check the purple and yellow wire tomorrow. I also read that if the odo/trip is working than it is the guage itself so I will also look into that. Is there anyway I can see if my VSS sensor is bad?
Second: Check Engine Light Codes
In the state of VA this light has to be off in order to pass inspection. These are the codes I got:
32-gas recirculation valve diagnostic switch OR Fault in electronic vacuum regulator valve
33-High voltage (low vacuum) at mass air flow sensor (or MAP sensor)
45-Oxygen sensor rich
The engine shuts down a lot so I am guessing number 32 and 33 is the reason. The reason for this is because while rolling from it shutting off I just put it into neutral and it starts right back up. I can also prevent it from going out again by reving. So I do not believe it is the computer shutting it down but I do not know. The engine on the car is about 20k miles It also looks as if I replace the electronic vacuum regulator valve number 33 may go away or maybe even a leak in my vacuum lines? Number 45 I am guessing is a tuning problem (car smokes) and can be fixed if I just take it in for a tune?
Third:Infl Rest
Nevermind, Man I love the search button.
Thats all I can think of right now.
Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions.

the car turning off on you sound alot like a timing issue, check your timing. for the oxygen sensor, just change it, its not very expensive and its an easy fix just remember to put anti seize on the threads so next time u have to take it off its alot easier.
i dont know about the other two but welcome to the forum, where u from?

The Odometer and the Trip do not function so I am guessing the sensor is bad.

If I bought that would it go on right?
