Which water pump to go with?

I'm dropping a freshly built 305 into my 85Z and while I was at it I figured I'd replace the water pump which to the best of my knowledge, is original with 140K on it.

What I'm looking for is something decently priced but also golod on performance and reliable. I'd like it be a polished aluminum finish and be compatible with my setup like the alternator bracket and the compressor when I finally get the A/C restored.

Anyone got any suggestions?

with a stock eng. , or mild mods. a stock pump will be fine . even with many mods. a stock pump is still good . get a new pump , clean it up , rattle can , good to go . good luck .

If you really want the polished aluminum, try the Stewart pump.

What about this one:

It says it won't fit my year, but then at the bottom of the page It's for all smallblock chevy from 55 to 95. And all thought SBC was a universal application. So what gives :S.

Also noob question. What the difference between long and short pumps?

That's a short water pump, it won't fit with your accessory brackets. You need a standard rotation long pump.

Re: Which water pump to go with?

That looks better. It should have dual bolt patterns on the hub to mount pretty much any pulley you want.
