Code 36

Check engine light came on and the code is 36. Unplugged the battery and it went away for a few a starts then returns. At first there was no noticable driving issues so I wasn't concerned. Now it starts hard sometimes, may die after starting or accelerates sluggish as if it is missing when you get on it. Any ideas where to start?
