code 12

i get code 12 constantly only code 12 will blink and blink past the 3 times i can get my car to idle but not rev or rev very slowly and ideas how to fix this code 12?

ive always heard that code 12 is normal and that means the system is operating properly.

thats it constantly code 12 if i reset the ecu it pops right back up code 12

the codes displayed by the check engine light are basic diagnostic codes there is a code 12 to indicate you are in the diagnostic mode then the active codes then a code 12 to close the communication, if the code your looking for is not comming up you may need a scan tool to look deeper into the diagnostics.

plus you say after the code 12 is displayed you can rev the car you are not trying to run the car with the pins grounded out are you, i did by accident and it made my car absolutely FREAK.(it hated that)

no i cant rev the car period and no just check it when its off

if you cant rev it period you may have a bad throttle position sensor.

and your timing is set right correct you put a timing light on it.

i see but theres a code in there some where my ses light use to shut off before with the key on

real slow rev and i had no problems until 2 days ago when i swapped the intake after that can get it going

double check to be sure nothing was left unplugged or it was pulled loose when you pulled the intake, i know every chevy ive seen with obd1 the light dosent go off untill the engine is started because the computer throws the code that states its not receiving the pulses from the distributor which means the car is not running. the code thrown is code 12 now if code 12 is being thrown while the engine is running that means the distributor is not sending the signal to the ecm that the engine is running which i think its controled by the ICM or the ignition control module.

i checked everything


no the light stays solid then goes out after about 5 seconds
