2 ?

I was wondering about how much horse power my motor might have cause I was talking to some people and some say about 300 and others say about 400. The motor is in my 85 camaro but no transmission and I don't have a lot of money left to bring it to a dino shop near me. Its a 383 stroker with a xtreme energy comp cam, edelbrock intake with a 600 cfm edelbrock carb, camel hump head ported and polished. I was also wondering on how much oil presser should I have it has about 38 psi and 1000 rpms I heard that this is really low

Re: 2 ?

You'd probably be closer to 300, but you really haven't given enough information to know.

10 PSI of oil pressure per 1000 RPM is more than adequate.

Obsolete 40 year old heads, who knows what cam, possibly stock exhaust, all the accessories and the worst carb available on the market today? 300 HP easily.

I had a very similar 383 with small-tube headers, an XE268, a 600 CFM Edelbrock and a set of Edelbrock heads. It made around 275 HP at the wheels.

Re: 2 ?

I'm with Apeiron on this one. Hard to tell what you've got based on the info provided. With the older heads, and an unknown cam, you gotta guess low. Could it be 400 or higher? Sure. But it could be lower too. So hard to tell.

Is "built" a technical term?

my buddy has a stang with a 383 and less done then u and has 540 at wheels off alcohol.

Everyone knows that actually building the engine makes for a much faster car than putting a cardboard box full of miscellaneous unassembled parts under the hood.
