Cam Question
I know nothing much about cams, and I bought a '88 T/A and it's cammed. The last owner doesn't know the specs and he never tuned the computer so he says the cam doesn't know what to do.
I want to tune the car but if I don't know the specs, should I just put a stock cam or splurge and buy a cam for the car that I know the specs for?
I don't want to get a tune for the car but still have the car out of whack.
The car is not a DD.
Thanks

Re: Cam Question
if you take it to a good shop to get it tuned they'll put it on a dyno and hook it up to a wideband. They don't need to know your cam specs, the dyno will give them all the info they need to get optimal power out of it.

Re: Cam Question
I was talking about if you were to learn how to tune and do it yourself.

Re: Cam Question
To tune it properly you'd still need both things I mentioned: dyno and wideband. You don't need your cam specs, you just need to find out what A/F ratio and timing your motor likes by experimenting.
