1.6 Roller Rocker Question
By putting 1.6 ratio roller rockers on my engine along with my cam (.444/.444 lift), will my motor be able to handle this much lift. It is a 305.
Re: 1.6 Roller Rocker Question
You will add roughly .030" more valve lift which will increase your overall lift to .474ish. P to V clearance should be fine. I hope you have upgraded your springs already, if not you need some. You didn't really say anything else about your setup, but the rockers should add a bit more power.

Re: 1.6 Roller Rocker Question
What other mods do you have? I would say that the 474" lift that David described is too much lift if you don't have mods to support it. If you have bone stock 305 heads(no porting), stock cat back and no headers, 474" of lift is a waste. Think of your motor is just a glorified air pump. If you try to cramp more air in but don't give it an equal opportunity to get air out, you won't get the result your looking for.

Re: 1.6 Roller Rocker Question
I have a Comp Cams (260/260 dur. .444/.444" lift, 112 LSA), Hooker 2460's and Y-pipe, Flowmaster 80 series, a BBK AFPR, and a burned Prom. I did upgrade the springs with the ones that they recommended with the cam. So I wont have to worry about clearance issues then?

Re: 1.6 Roller Rocker Question
Unless you altered the installed height from stock, the problem is not the valve springs. It's the height of the entire assembly in relation to the top of the guide boss. The bottom of the retainer will hit the guide boss preventing any further lift.

Re: 1.6 Roller Rocker Question
Also check the pushrod clearance as it passes through the head. About half the factory iron heads I've seen need a little more clearance.

Re: 1.6 Roller Rocker Question
How would I check my clearance to see if I can use them?

Re: 1.6 Roller Rocker Question
You would either have to disassemble the valve spring assembly and measure with a valve spring micrometer or caliper, or get a 1.6 arm and checking springs and trial fit them. Remember, you need a little bit of safety clearance on top of the required lift clearance.
I would check all 16 for clearance.
I would check all 16 for clearance.
