Help to verify this cam?

I won this on eBay. Advertised as a Crane 2032. I have no reason to believe it's NOT, I just want to make sure before I stick it in my engine. I know it's impossible to tell with out analytically measuring the lobes, but I figure some pictures of the markings should be enough to be reasonably sure it is what it's supposed to be?

Is this how Crane labels their cams?

Try sending those pics in an e-mail to Crane Cams directly.

That'd work if Crane was still in business.

Re: Help to verify this cam?

Are the intake lobes and the exhaust lobes supposed to have different base circles? Because this cam does. I'm measuring the lobes as we speak and the numbers I'm getting are saying are not matching up to the spec sheet...

I'm assuming it's as simple as measuring the lobe diameter at it's peak, then measuring the lobe diameter perpendicular to the peak (This is the base circle, right?), and multiplying the difference by 1.5 to get the valve lift? I'm getting about .460/.472. Cam is supposed to be .452/.465.

Yes, thats how you measure it and they wont necessarily be the same.

I'm noticing the difference in lift is basically the same on both. Maybe its right.

Re: Help to verify this cam?

I would tend to agree with you, but the slightly skewed numbers are the same with two different pieces of measuring equipment. I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow just so they can verify for me before I go leaving this guy positive feedback.
