Head Swap ???

Hello,

I have a 1978, 350/4 barrel /T350, i have some bolt on items already i want to put on, Headers /750 holley, Holley Dominator Intake, dual 2.5 exaust, and a richmond gear set 456. My question is would this all work with the heads listed below , they where built for propane, i dont think that matters does it.

These heads are the Camaro TPI HO 305 Heads, casting# 187, 58cc.
The intake valves have been properly upsized to 1.94" (they were 1.87"), exhaust is stock 1.5". Planed and clean, ported and polished.
Isky Valve springs (part # 205-D), umbrella style valve seals.
These heads have been fully rebuilt with hardened seats installed to run with Propane, stock rotators removed from the exhaust valves. All work has been professionally done.

Thanks in advance
James

Re: Head Swap ???

You will raise your compression ratio up, and probably need to run 91 fuel
Most 350's start with 64 CC

Re: Head Swap ???

I can live with high octaine gas but do you think it will be a good choice performance wise as far as the heads go on my 350 with those bolt ons as listed.

Re: Head Swap ???

With the work done i don't see a problem with flow rates, i know there are some really smart guys on here that know a abundant of information about heads, hopefully they can chime in and give ya some pointers. I would put them on, but thats me. From what ive looked up in the past few minutes, should be a decent setup

Re: Head Swap ???

Do keep in mind with these heads, they are from the 305 tbi motor, and are swirl ports. Make tons of power up to 4500 rpms, after that, its no go :/

Tpi heads have a castings of like 601 and such.

Re: Head Swap ???

To put those swirl-port heads on a 350 is a great way to make the engine run out of breath above 4000 rpm, whatever the cam.

Re: Head Swap ???

Oh, another thing, your intake won't match up with the 187 heads.
