350 or 383
350 or 383
im having trouble deciding wether i want to go with a 350 or a 383. the car is going to be a daily driver/racer on the weekends. i need to pass pa inspection and emissions. i was also wondering if you can use the stock 305 fuel pump and tpi with 305 heads for now or will it not run right on the 383. how much different would it be. what would i have to change and what would you do if it was yours and you had to pass emissions.

Re: 350 or 383
305 heads on a 383 are going to make for a ridiculous compression ratio with al but the deepest dished pistons. You'rem uch better off getting some 72cc heads for that. Why choke a 383 with 305 headsa nyway?
The 305 pump may or may not work. Since it's a TPI pump it's probably adequate. The TPI is just going to choke the 383 even more than the 305 heads are though...

Re: 350 or 383
if you keep it under 5000 miles a year, you should be emissions exempt. thats what i did with my car for the longest time. Passed my 383 just fine without any emissions stuff at all since its well under 5K miles a year.
But yeah dont do 305 heads/intake on the 383, its not worth it. Save up and do it right the first time around
