getting a build started
well my L03 runs great, but its getting up there in miles and not getting any newer. so im bout to start bulding a fresh 305(so please no swap in a 350 talk).
so whats the best engine to build on(ialso know a machine shop that will be helping me through this, but needing little 3rd gen help to getting a parts list together)...
would a 305HO out of a MC SS be good start?
i thinking bout boring .060 over,i know the 305 have a small bore stock, but are the walls thick anough to take that?
as for heads im thinking bout hot rodding some HO heads,or should i go up to a L98 or LT1 head?
this will also be a carb motor
my goal is to try and put down 300whp all motor
so any advice, will deff be welcomed.

if you bore out a 305 it will be close to a 350. Y not start with something larger and only bore/hone out .010". You can use your crank you have now and your rods. all you need is larger bore pistons.

You don't bore motors for performance reasons. You won't notice anything performance-wise from any overbore. Boring a 305 a even to the "max" of .060" only yields 315cid, which is nothing close to 350.
I agree with five7.
Kind of pointless to pull a 305, and put a 305 back in, especially if you're going to end up buying the short block or longblock, whatever it may be.
