1986 Firebird performance

Hi I have this 86 firebird that is complete stock with 22K miles. I have had the quadrajet carb. rebuilt, and a complete tune-up and the car has weak acceleration.
I know I should keep this car original and stock, but what should I do to make the car run better? Would changing the carb. make the car loose value??

Replacing the carb with anything but another CC q-jet would not make it quicker, and very likely make it slower while reducing fuel economy and driveability, while costing more than another CC q-jet would.

Is it running worse than before the carb rebuild?

Make sure the timing is set properly. Advancing it from the factory setting often peps these cars up.

my mechanic set everything to original factory specs on the dyno. When you give is gas it is slow to response. I want to take it to another mechanic but I need to know what to tell them.

The dyno doesn't help you set anything. Waste of time and money.

The timing needs to be set with the EST connector (flat 4-wire connector coming from the base of the distributor) disconnected. If you set the timing with it connected, it'll be an absolute dog.

The carb settings are all done with a dwell meter and multi-meter, or data monitor (like Auto Xray). Again, dyno doesn't help at all.
