False High RPM
False High RPM
My 89 camaro shows idling at 5000. I recently changed caps and rotor and changed wires. Changed the battery also. Any idea how to fix?

Your solution is here, well, maybe:

Mine is 89 so a little bit different.
I am thinking the capacitor is good, but since I changed the cap and rotor and put an MSD it is cousing the problem. I now have to try: first change the cap and rotor to another brand, maybe ac delco., then maybe swap the tach if it didnt work.

Re: False High RPM
Yeah, it's just an inaccurate tach. Fix the tach or get an aftermarket one.

Re: False High RPM
Hate to tell you this, but our tachometers are notoriously inaccurate. You'll have better luck in the electronics board if you want a solution though, try a search. I've seen many threads on it. Or like he ^^^ said, an aftermarket tach is a simple "solution" as well, if you're not a stock ****
