so earlier i stopped at a stop sign and floored it but the car didnt burn rubber or take off that fast i have a 85 iroc with the tpi is that normal or is this engine just that slow? i know i need a tune up but what do i need to tune up like new spark plugs or wat? thanks

 

did you just get this car? if so, then welcome to the universal disappointment that is the 305. Once it's tuned up, you can start improving your stoplight performance with a looser torque converter.

 

my 87 sport coupe can burn rubber just fine

 

my tbi 305 will keep your head back in the seat but its got 194 heads and at 80 you can give it gas and pick up the front end but its got weaker i think my dizzys going bad agian

 

start with simple...dist cap, wires, plugs, & rotor...also air filter....if the engine seems and sounds like its rippin then you may have tranny or differential problems with slipping....respectively made need a fluid in the tranny/ maybe rebuild work done to it if its sliping real bad....that thing should be burning tires no prob even bone stock...sounds like tranny issues to be with the belts slipping internally

 

if it shifts fine its not his drvieline i would put an aftermarket dizzy in it cause alot of people have problems with there fire power
