Did away with underdrive, w/p developed leak

Okay, I've got an '87 L98/700R4 Iroc that I bought with an underdrive crank pulley (diameter ~5.5"). I've since replaced it with a stock diameter pulley (diameter 7.25 or 7.5" IIRC) to solving charging issues. Within a couple weeks and not more than 75-100 miles, I've developed a coolant leak. I walked out in the garage and found a trail of coolant on the floor all the way to the back of the car.

My question is whether or not the increased water pump rpm resulting from installation of the stock crank pulley could be the cause of the leak? Maybe b/c it was only accustomed at running slower? I'm just looking for an explanation. What other causes could there be? I can't help but feel that the two are related. Could this affect other accessories negatively? For what its worth it's an Edelbrock pump.
