Engine starts & dies

Hey all, I have a 1992 RS w/ 305 tbi which ran fine until I hosed down the engine compartment. Had sat awhile so wanted to clean her up inside & out. I let engine idle while degreasing it & seemed fine, so I finished up & called it a day. Went out next morning and started it & now it starts up, idles then stalls out unless I give it gas. I inspected vaccuum hoses & any connectors I could get too thinking I may have bumped during cleaning. Also removed dist cap thinking moisture issue to no avail. With breather cover off I can see injectors shooting plenty of fuel until I don't press throttle to keep it running. What have I done to it? Preferred being dirty I guess? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks again to all and to this forum.

No idea if TBI has a mass air flow sensor or not, but if it does check that out.

Nobody's had this problem but me? I've been driving Chevys all my life & never had one crap out like this after detailing. '84 Z-28, 73 Nova, granted they were carbed & not tbi. Have a Ford ( 1969 F-350 Dually-hauls gas not a$$ ) and can't afford drive it everywhere, winters coming.

Re: Engine starts & dies

Failed to mention I replaced the fuel filter and fuel line ( from rear to front ) because the line fractured due to rusty condition while removing filter. Also replaced brakes, brake lines, altenator & serpentine belt all way before engine-stalling issue. Only after detailing engine compartment did this begin. Now it's a better lawn ornament than a Camaro.

Re: Engine starts & dies

Sorry, I intended to say I removed the dist. cap & it has no hairline fractures but all contacts are white & corroded. I cleaned them as best I could & the rotor button contact thinking it might be an issue. No difference in idle problem. Can a fuel pump go bad overnight while parked? Sorry, stupid question. Just can't get my head around this.
