car died....ignition module?

driving down the road yesterday.....car running great, then all of a sudden it just died (like someone reached over and turned the key off)

tried to restart, but wouldn't fire at all. yes, plenty of fuel in the car, and getting gas to the carb.

does this sound like an ignition module going bad? has anyone had a similar experience? are they difficult to change? it is in the distributor isn't it?

thanks for any input you may have, Rick

Re: car died....ignition module?

make sure there is di electric grease between dist. and the module. I had similar issues and found the grease was dried, flaky and almost totally gone. I had a thread, "stall frustration need help" (in this section) that went over a lot, with some good input from others.
Good luck

Re: car died....ignition module?

thanks camarillo! i will take a look at that tonight........i just can't think of anything else that would cause the car to just die like that. i feel like it must be the ignition module. alternator, battery are good..car cranks like a champ, but does not fire at all.

anyone else have any other ideas of what could cause this?
