heat/water issue?
heat/water issue?
i drove to shoppers to pick up some things in my 90 IROC z28 camaro, and as i get back in the car to go home, it gives a little more trouble than usual starting, then it stalls out as i put it in drive which never happened before. so i started it up again, resulting in another stallout. 3rd time's a charm....but not so much. the 4th time i got it started, i revved it in park a little bit, to get it running, and then i got it home no problem. I even tried forcing a stallout when i got home, but it kept running. I have no clue what could be going on here. I have a new battery, half a tank of gas, and cleared out my whole air intake, so the fire triangle is there. I even wd40ed all the electrical plugs a couple days ago, although i will mention it rained last night. could water be the issue? I think i should also mention that when it sits in the sun the engine wont even turn over, but i feel thats the case with any car... Please help me you guys always know whats up

I've never ever heard of any car not turning over after it sits in the sun - have no idea what you're trying to describe here. I'm 45, so I have 30 years of daily going to work in many different cars that sat in the sun all day, even on 100+ degree days, and they start right up first time (unless there's an issue other than sun).

well to give you an idea i am 21 years old and VERY inexperienced, and this is my first "me" car. anyway, i cleaned all the connections on the distributor cap and everything is just fine.

Be carefull with solvents, WD-40 included, on your engine's electrical connectors. Your vehicle uses weatherpack connectors which are protected against moisture and oxydization by rubber seals. These seals can be damaged by exposure to certain solvents.
The distributor connectors will not affect starter activation. Things that could cause your starting system to fail after long periods in the sun include the battery, the starter, wiring connections between the battery and the starter. Also, your car has a VATS system. Heat soaking may be causing your VATS system to malfunction. This isnt normal and could get worse.
