89 rs convertible should i swap tbi to tpi?
I HAVE the 89 rs 5.0 5spd with the tbi from what i read i am better off switching to tpi? and how much money and work would this take. or if i am better off modding it into a open air or dual snorkel? and any way how much of a gain is there by switching to open air element or using a dual snorkel

its your call, people have arguments on both sides of it, i have a problem with my tbi just choking itself and trying to die, but then itll revive itself, its totally random too its not a problem but it is an inconvenience in AZ traffic so im making the swap on my next motor, for me i prefer TPI because it gives you 8 injectors as opposed to 2 big injectors to feed the 8 cylinders my instructor used to call it toilet bowl injection because its the middle ground between TPI and a carb, so the TPI manages fuel better but people say its got a lame powerband at 4K+ hopefully ill form my own opinion once i get everything swapped

I'm guessing you're disappointed with the lazy acceleration. Just changing to TPI isn't going to fix that. The problem is more complex. If you get a same-year-or-newer, totalled donor car, then you'd have a good basis, because you could also get the heads, wiring harness, rear gears, and such.
Things to buy new would be headers, cat, cat-back, cam, ...
The TPI has the potential for more power if you add a centrifugal supercharger, but unless you do a TPiS Mini-Ram, it'll never be a high-rpm screamer. If you want high-rpm power on a small investment, the TBI is the better way. Start with the exhaust system, then the Edelbrock intake, then 081 heads, then the LT1 cam.
But for now, switching to the dual-snorkel air cleaner from the L69 cars is worth 2 tenths. More if you remove that stupid air dam around the throat in the middle.

None I just left the tbi alone, I put my money into transferable parts like exhaust, rear axle etc and obviously parts to keep the tired 305 running
I've got an L98 built up sitting in birdtojag's garage with hyper pistons, lt1 cam, roller vavle train, tpi etc so I think that's my starting point, wish I could go forced induction right now but money and time is a bit short lol I never expected tpi to be a beast, but from the design point it seems a lot better, with managing fuel at least

Just basic stuff, new waterpump when mine went out, new alternator etc, keeping up on oil changes and all that jazz, and yes the rear is a good investment to get torque out of fast, and better traction/ even power distribution with a posi
