Not sure if alternator the prob or if the battery just old. Honestly it has alot of miles so now i want to do the best i can to keep it alive. On top of that i wana restore it. Please what should i worry about at the moment?a motor flush? maybe tranny oil and eng oil change? On top of that, i still need to smog. Please help i need all the good advice . . To keep my car from breaking down in the middle of the street. Maybe sum new fuel injectors. Sum new starter, spark plugs and wires?what can i do to make it a good reliable car?

Re: I need helpful advice
If it was me I'd do this:
- Change spark plugs
- Change plug wires
- New cap and rotor on dist.
- Check the brakes to see if they need to be changed.
- Check tranny fluid, change/add more if needed.
- Check power steering fluid.
- Flush out the coolant and put some new stuff in.
- Change the oil.
- Get your injectors cleaned/get new injectors.
You also want to check the whole car over for rust and get that taken care of. A rusted car will not be a good daily driver.

Assuming this is an auto tranny car ...
If the car seems to be "not cared for" - forget the tranny fluid! Make sure you leave what's in there, and don't change it. Over time, on a car that's not been maintained, the clutches/plates wear down inside the tranny, and these little particles act as a friction additive. If you change the tranny fluid out, no more particles = no more friction additive = transmission slippage (in alot of cases). So leave the tranny fluid alone, only adding if it's low. Of course, tranny fluid is checked after a good warmup drive and after tranny has been run through the gears.
DO A FUEL FILTER!!! This is a major source of aggravation that is so easy, and yet no one ever changes them. It's driver side, in front of rear wheel - make sure to use 2 wrenches to get the fuel lines off. I highly recommend getting a can of PB Blaster and sparying the fuel line/filter connections every day for a week before attempting to remove the filter.
After new filter, add some Stabil to a full tank (to obsord any water content in the tank), and add a can of fuel injection cleaner as well.
Change oil/filter, air filter, plugs (nothing fancy - stock AC Delco), wires, cap, rotor.
Make sure simple things are working as they should - especially the rad fan.
Change rad fluid, flushing the system.
Have battery/alternator checked for free any auto parts store.
Brakes - look at the rubber lines from wheel to frame - when you have the time to bleed the brakes (a few hours), replace those rubber lines (again use the PB Blaster for a week first). There's one each wheel up front, and one driver side rear. It's amazing what new rubber brake lines do for stopping power.
Save $100 and get a wonderbar from TDS (a sponsor here) - or grab one off an IROC in the local JY - these are life savers for the front suspension stresses on the frame associated with steering.
What engine (2.8, 305?), what tranny, is it carbed, TBI, MPFI? get us more info.

If its a 2.8 V6 MPI its a 2.8 V6 MPI not a 305 V8 carb. Just make sure all the maintenance is taken care of you should be fine. Brakes and tires come first IMHO.
