I keep buying BS

I bought a 94 lt1 thinkin this would go great, but hoped wrong. The first that happened is when I went to replace all the lower gaskets and seals. I found the bolt and threads going down the center of the crank destroyed. I went and purchased a new eagle cast crank, along with new main and rod bearings. When I went to remove the rod caps, I found that there is one odd connecting rod. It looks looks like the pm "powdered metal" rods that can be found on ebay for $10 each. The rest look like the normal raised flat end rods. When I was inspecting the underside of the pistons to see what brand they were, I noticed that one of the cam lobes is severely scored at the peak.
I need advice on which cam to purchase. I'll obviously need matching springs, and a new set of lifters. I think I'll just get a set of my extra rods reconditioned. I have no idea what the compression is with the new pistons, all I know is they are Mahle pistons.
