Need help ASAP Throttle stuck

So I was enjoying the cruise control that I didn't realize I had/assumed was broken for the first time today and it worked, until I braked and the rpm just kept going. I tried pushing all the buttons possible etc, took out the gauges fuse, but its still stuck. I turn on the engine and it just revs up. I had a friend look under the air filter and it appears the pedal releases, inside it seems to still be pressed. I really need to have my (only) car running and would hate to tow it and service it...at 9:45 on a friday so if anyone knows any way to fix this please post, much appreciated.

Re: Need help ASAP Throttle stuck

you should be able to disconnect it from the throttle body.

Disconnect the cruise control from the throttle body? How? Right now I'm going under the drivers side to disconnect the cruise control switch. I need/ am hoping this will run before the nights over.

Re: Need help ASAP Throttle stuck

I think he meant to disconnect the cable at the throttle body where it's pulling the throttle back. Right next to the accelerator cable

yes, pull the cable from the throttle body or unplug the cruise control at the unit from under the hood.

Re: Need help ASAP Throttle stuck

Should be 3 cables at the throttle linkage, if i remember correctly should be 2 at the top and one at the bottom. your cruise and throttle cable will be at the same end, disconnect one at a time and find the one thats holding the throttle open and leave it unhooked. more then likely the inner cable has either corroded and seized in the outer sheath or the cable has frayed and is now jammed.
