Valves
I need your help again. I am working on my 90 Iroc w/350 TPI. I had oil on my spark plug threads so I am replacing my valve cover gaskets to remedy that...hopefully that's the problem. While I have my valve covers off I would like to check my valves and make sure they are properly adjusted. Problem is....not sure how to do it. Can you guys give the directions to run the valves and make sure they are running to their full potential. Thanks in advance.

Re: Valves
If they aren't ticking - leave them alone.
Not sure how replacing valve cover gasket is going to fix oil on your spark plugs - do you mean the valve covers are leaking oil down the side of the engine? Is the oil on the plug outside, or are the threads inside the plug holes oily? You might just have blowby on the rings or valve seals leaking and you are burning oil in the combustion chamber.

Re: Valves
Yeah I found a gash in one of the gaskets so I'm hoping that is what is causing the oil on the spark plug threads....looks like the plugs are actually burning normal...no oil deposits. The white porcelain portion of the plugs do look burnt for some reason....about 1000 miles on them. As for the valves I do hear a ticking I just can't pinpoint where it's coming from. Thanks
