Setting The Timing Help

I need help with the timing. Yes I read the thread on how to set it when the car is running fine, but how about if you cant start your car. On the sticker is says to set it @ *6 BTDC and I was wondering if its possible to set it even though i cant start the car.

Probably so far off that it won't start. Need to get your #1 to TDC and start from there.
