If you gut your cat.converter would it stink like running rich.

 

My cats were gutted and failed Colorado emisions test. I honestly dont rmember what the reading was but i will find the paper work and let you know. I had no idea and am assuming some places just require that cats be on for a visual inspection but not Colorado!!!

Replaced them and will admit this .... I love the sound of the exhaust now!! Just loud enough - not so over powering!!!

 

It can. When I did mine years ago I could tell. Wasn't REALLY stinky, but definitely smelled like it was running rich.

Just put a good hi-flow cat on there & it'll be good. Cost you all of 1 to 3 horsepower.

 

New Jersey has the test also,but this car doesn't have to be inspected anymore,it is registered as a Historical Vehicle and no more MV BS.And yes it sounds really good and has I think gotten a little more horse power,but it really stinks too.

 

I just might do that BlackenedBird the smell is even getting into the 33 Ply.when I start it in the garage.
