Weird delay when accelerating

Recently my '88 Iroc-z started having this weird delay between the time i press on the accelerator and the time the car actually moves. When i step on the gas the engine seems to stall and the car takes a couple of seconds to move foreward. It also doesnt just move, it jerks forward. I have no idea what it could be. HELP PLEASE! Thanks.

Do you have any trouble codes via lit SES light? You can have slight trouble with sensors and not initiate the ECM to trigger a TC (trouble code). I had a Hypertech PROM and it was THE BOMB. Throttle response was on demand. Tires would spin as soon as I mashed the peddle. But it went bad and I then got a 1987 IROC-Z PROM BIN file burned into a EPROM. THe fuel and spark tables where a bit modified but throttle response is slightly delayed too. So I would begin with the Throttle Position Sensor. Then the Mass Air Flow Sensor. But before you go and spend a ton of money, do a TPI tune up as well as basic tune up if the problem persists.

-Spark Plugs
-Ignition Wires
-Distributor Cap and Rotor
-Air Filters
-Fuel Filters
-PCV valve
-Oil Change and new filter

I had a similar problem, and I was having a hard time figuring it out, I ended up spending about $20 getting a usb to serial connector and a serial cable at compUSA which I bastardized into a aldl cable with a resistor. Downloaded WinALDL to my laptop and life has been a lot easier. I saw that the TPS was registering only a third of whatever I was doing (10% throttle read as 3%, WOT read as 33%, etc..) and after replacing the TPS with a new one and getting the same readings, I replaced the ECM for $79 at Autozone. Now I lay rubber down instantly when I hit the throttle. Who knows if this is your problem, but I guess the moral is that the cable and the program on the laptop makes life a lot easier.

So you where able to datalog your ECM? I need to know exactly what u did and how you rigged the cables. I'm a computer tech and I know how to mess with data cables. But I don't know what I need to do what u did. So not to hijack the thread, can you contact me via email? My email address is Silent_for_life@yahoo.com. Thanks.
