Serpentine belt routing problem

What is wrong here? Why is the belt up against the tensioner?

The belt should go straight down from the ac pully to the smog pump pully and then from the smog pump pully to the water pump, assuming the tensioner is installed correctly that would put the pully off of the tensioner around the 6 o clock position facing almost straight down from the mounting bolt.

I posted a while ago asking if the tensioner was clocked the right way. I guess maybe it's not??? I am not running a smog pump.

It's basically impossible to install incorrectly, theres a tab on the back which allows it to only be installed one way, follow the link provided and it will solve your issue, its been done a lot of times.

That would appear to be where mine is, though as 89R mentions, there's only a single hole there.

Ha! The 12 o'clock one is correct. Looks like someone was experimenting with extra adjustability. Probably during the smog pump delete.
