Intake man bolt locations.

Quick q before I put it on. I think I numbered #7 and #8 wrong. The 4 long bolts go on each corner right?

Re: Intake man bolt locations.

4 longs are the 2 center bolts on each side in 87-up applications, as far as I can remember. Could be wrong about that. Somebody else will chime in here soon to confirm.

Re: Intake man bolt locations.

I mean I numbered them as I took them off and all but one long is on each corner. And that's when I realized step 8 was actually step 7.

Re: Intake man bolt locations.

Just installed an intake on an 88 TPI last week, and all 12 bolts were the same length.

Re: Intake man bolt locations.

Can't answer the question directly, but wanted to add that you need to be careful. Using a long bolt in the wrong location can bend/bind up a push rod. Which leads to further damage.

Re: Intake man bolt locations.

Yup. The longer ones I put in the corners. I saw that the shorter ones stop before getting too close to the pushrods.

Re: Intake man bolt locations.

SO mad.

Chilton said to tighten heads in 3 passes, ending with 65 ft. pounds and showed the bolt pattern.

Did so, engine is almost ready to run.

Was looking at a chart and it gives specific torque specs for each pass.
